Fir Needle oil can be extracted from the needles. It has a fresh, clear but slightly woody aroma, and is a pale oil with a watery viscosity.

Fir needle essential oil benefits are derived from fir trees – yes, the popular Christmas tree species! As a member of the pine family, fir (Abies) are evergreen trees with flat needles and raised cones. Within the category of fir, there are dozens of subspecies. Some of the more prominent varieties include Spanish, white, balsam, and silver firs.

Fir Needle, Essential Oil is produced via Steam Distillation.

Chemical composition

The main chemical components of fir esential oils are Limonene , Camphene, alpha-Pinene ,beta-Pinene and delta-3-Carene.

Precautions

It is considered non-toxic but since it can stimulate the uterine muscle it should not be used during pregnancy, nor by people with kidney problems. It is non-sensitizing, but some people do have a reaction to it, and it is generally wise to us this oil in moderation.
